Hamish Bennett, New Zealand fast bowler, has suffered a back injury and is likely to miss next month's tour of Zimbabwe.
John Buchanan, director of the New Zealand cricket, Bennett is expected back in action in the series against Australia later this year. "Hamish complained of pain in the lower back, which intensified after the training," said Buchanan. "It 'been engaged in the scan and the medical team has ruled out serious conditions, such as cripple the stress fracture.
"I believe that a thorough rehabilitation program Hamish can return to cricket as soon as ever but unfortunately is not able to be back in time tour of Zimbabwe."
Bennett, 24, has had a series of injuries since his surprise elevation to the national team last year. He suffered a groin injury during the opening of its first test in India, the discarding of the series. Earlier this year, an ankle injury kept him out of the second half of the race in New Zealand to the semifinals of the World Cup.
