Firdos Moonda
September 24, 2011
Cape Cobras 136 for 3 (55 Gibbs, Henriques 1-20) beat New South Wales 135 for 8 (34 Watson, Phil Anderson 2-21) by seven wickets
Cape Cobras completed a clinical victory in the competition the New South Wales, which failed to capture the imagination of ourselves in the same way the opening round of the tournament on Friday did. Cobra fielded badly and was modest in the first 10 overs, but quickly adjusted to limit in New South Wales less than 140 at a slow pace. The surface was so slow, that Chase, which is dominated by Cape Cobras.
None of us had played competitively for a few months, with both coming out of winter in their respective countries, but it was the South Africans who have shown their touch. Justin Ontong David Warner is expected to run in the second over but missed the stumps and gave four rushes. The two openers, Warner and Shane Watson was abandoned in the middle of the other four balls and Warner was abandoned a second time by Robin Peterson mid-wicket. He said the first six of the match, smashing a shot long on his luck, but missed the next ball when Charlemagne Langeveldt showed its variation with a slower pace, the ball short and Warner pulled the counter mid depth. Ontong held on to the opportunity to give the Cobras their first wicket.
Watson continued to capitalize on their lifeline with a few master strokes. His six of Vernon Philander on the bottom four mid-off and powerful plant, where highlights of his sleeves. Peterson romance continued with the tone Chennai - took three windows here to South Africa to England in the World Cup in February - and discomfort Watson with a ball and steak Australia had the game of sweeping shot too soon. Apply the brakes and the Cape Cobras bee pushed hard in the second half of the sleeve.
Justin Kemp went to his colleague, Simon Katich, with smooth delivery Katich tried to hit on the border, but the coverage of JP Duminy took a fine catch to send him on his way. Kemp slow deliveries at one end and Philander pedestrian stop line to another, where only 20 tests were scored on the next four and 53 more in the last ten years.
Although the Cape Cobras in a bowl is not ideal, they were able to prevent the New South Wales, surface scoring slowed. Kemp, Langeveldt and Arsenal was a good alternative, especially in the slower ball and Steyn also had to bowl a lot less gas than usual.
Cape Cobras screw the ball away when a Nathan Hauritz presented Richard with a shot behind Levi long jump instead. Gibbs was, exceptionally, the pair of most vigilant and has been especially reluctant to take 18 years paceman Pat Cummins at first.
Although Gibbs was to discuss what to do with the Cummins, Levi Mitchell Starc abused, sending a short ball, and a slower one whole. Cummins a series of short balls bowled in his first two overs, and when Gibbs decided to use his pace, he threw around the field. Gibbs' first six were unsure, but soon was mediocre and the ball hit the biggest six tournaments so far, 90 meters, off Nathan Hauritz.
None of the bowlers New South Wales were able to run scoring difficult for the Cape Cobras in a place that the Australian side made to look much harder to beat. Levi dismissal slowed things down a bit, Gibbs recorded his half-century and was removed shortly after, and Owais Shah went cheaply but JP Duminy and Justin Ontong is almost finished with three overs to spare.
