Northamptonshire have announced that its chief executive, Mark Tagg, will leave the club in late October after eight years in the role.

Tagg has been involved in a difficult period for the gambling house, where money was scarce and Northamptonshire is one of the smaller counties in the circuit. However, they were about to ascend to the First Division in the County Championship in recent seasons, but has fallen in recent weeks and missed a spot in Surrey.

''I feel I have achieved what I came here to do, and after eight years, the time has come for me to move on to explore new opportunities, and allow a new CEO to continue to drive the club forward "said Tagg.

Martin Lawrence, president of the cricket club, he added. "In a rapidly changing world of professional sports is vital for the club to move forward and develop good work in the last eight years, we have many opportunities both inside and outside the field and a new CEO is appointed in the coming months to develop these.
