With his eye firmly set on challenging for the only global title that has eluded Australia, the ICC World T20, Australia T20 captain Cameron White sees the series against South Africa as crucial to the team's progression. Australia have five T20s scheduled before the event in Sri Lanka next year and White thinks every one of them will be vital.

"We definitely have to win these two games," he said. "From my point of view, with quite a young side and an inexperienced line-up, it would be nice to play some more cricket before the T2O World Cup. The more experience you can get into younger players, the better performances you will get out of them so it would be good to play a few more matches."

Australia T20 squad with six players under 25 years and three that have yet to play an international. Although White admitted that Australia is not at full power, thinks they are "very close" to it. "The part that we have chosen is the best Twenty20 side could have chosen."

Given the recent turmoil surrounding the team after the Argus review and will play in an interim coach, there were plenty of distractions off the field, but White denied any accusation of instability and said the unit is stronger than ever. "I think everybody knows the situation knows the team and some players are off the team," he said. "Unstable is certainly not a word I would use". Terms such as "dynamic" and "promising" are whites prefer to describe the current situation in Australia and is felt particularly happy expectation raised by the three rookies.

Wicket-keeper Matthew Wade is sure to debut in Thursday's game, and White said his ability with the bat will also be put to good use. "It can open the stick, and it has a power play at the right BAT in the order or below average. He gives us many opportunities."

Mitchell Marsh versatile all presented as one of the best young talent out of Australia, was the youngest player to appear in the national currency a day of competition. "It's a very hard hitter of the ball," White said. "He and Shaun are good kid, big and strong, so obviously a lot of talent in the family."

Mitchell is likely to join his brother Shaun in the starting lineup and White said the family connection had already been tested in practice. "We played a bit of touch rugby and their communication was unnecessary. Their defense was nowhere," he joked. "We hope it gets a little better in the ground tomorrow."

Even younger than 18 years Marsh is couture player Pat Cummins, who has been in effect since spoke of his recent performances Twenty20 Champions League in New South Wales. Shane Watson has been described as mature, talented and one of the best young players that have emerged in the last 10 years. White agreed. "It's a very exciting talent, so someone is just 18 and the container as fast as it's really exciting. Hopefully it's an important weapon in this series and move on."

Likely to be opened bowling with Brett Lee, before the appendix to close out a series of high level players Cummins. Although Lee to participate in any fights, White said, however, with Cummins. "Brett is high and today, which is a good thing. It will be training today, apparently does nothing, but he will be there to share information and help the younger guys," he said. "I'm sure that any kind of advice to Brett, Pat can give me the next day to keep it in good stead to go T20 lamp that has a relatively high pressure."

Australia has not named a replacement for Lee in the series T20, and his absence will leave a thin bowling attack on the experience, but losing the senior players to injury, something white called "a sign of time, "says teams should get used to juggling large squads to cope with their calendars full. "With international matches, very busy these days, you may need a bit of a break, or if you are injured or if you need your appendix out, these are just things that present themselves today."
