India Red 275 for 5 (Abhinav 127, Saha 65*) beat India Blue 274 for 9 (Badrinath 56, Mandeep 50) by five wickets

A well-paced century from Abhinav Mukund helped India Red successfully chase India Blue's 274 in the first match of the NKP Salve Challenger Trophy at Jamtha. Abhinav showed a great amount of patience and nerve in his innings, and helped India Red recover from a precarious 45 for 3. Giving him support was Wriddhiman Saha, who scored 65 not out.

Both are cold in their 147-run partnership that relies on them and two to keep the scoreboard ticking rather than seeking the big guys. Abhinav, who wants to show he can play off the limited form of the game has also hit 10 fours in his only 127, while Saha was only three boundaries, all sweeps in his sleeves. Saha has been working around the spinners and hit some shots while Abhinav marine net late in his innings.

Indian Red were in trouble when the two met. They had lost their opening pair of Gautam Gambhir and Shikhar Dhawan in the first two overs, and the danger-man Yusuf Pathan skied one to mid-on in the eighth. Yusuf had hit four boundaries, ensuring Indian Red to keep pace with the required annual rate, but they were more distressed when Ashok Menaria was dismissed in bizarre circumstances in the 20th above. Menaria inside edges a sweep Pragyan Ojha, the ball hit the inside of the back pad and Dinesh Karthik reacted strongly to keep the catch.

Saha Abhinav and had to be vigilant for early, and the need for annual rate increased to more than 6 during the 32nd one above. The two have played cricket without risks, but always managed to keep calling to check rates, and India Red came home with 2.3 overs to spare at the end. India Blue was not helped by some poor bowling. Irfan Pathan and Pradeep Sangwan could not hit the counters at the beginning they took, and went on to a more than six, as did Pragyan Ojha. The relatively unknown sailors Yajuvendra Krishanatry so bland and was given only four overs, bowling with S Badrinath itself and M Vijay place.

Saha Abhinav Partnership and consists of what was a very sloppy effort by India Red in the field. Their left-arm RP Singh and marine Jaydev Unadkat upset too large strain out of the world's wicket and India batsmen blue cut to the side off limits. Valthaty Paul was the first to enjoy the whimsical line, hitting seven boundaries in his 36 before he was executed in a mix-up with Vijay. Half-century was a beat Badrinath more measured, but India continued to attack Blue by Manish Pandey. After hitting five fours and a six Pandey ultimately hit a long neck.

Later, the Indians began to choke Red spinners on the slopes. Bhargav Bhatt, discarding Pandey, Badrinath in the wrong flight and left him speechless. A 219 for six of the more than 45, India Blue requires increased later and reached 19 years Mandeep Singh. Mandeep hit five four and two sixes, including a perfectly timed extra-loft unit cover Unadkat, India Blue to a competitive total. It seemed to be sufficient to Abhinav Saha and partnership.
