Afghanistan have focused on a place in Sri Lanka Twenty20 World next year, and drummer Mohammad Nabi believes that the haemorrhage of talent in the national Twenty20 tournament in Pakistan is an outstanding team.
"We are preparing for the World Twenty20 qualifiers next year, and a series of matches in the UAE, so it was very nice to come here and play," said Nabi, who was a stand-in captain at Faysal Bank T20 Cup, regular Captain Nawroz Mangal, and several senior players have left the trip in order to prepare for next month's games in the UAE.
"We made some young people here, while the elders were in the UAE, we have a good backup and youth have the opportunity to learn something, and I'm glad we have learned much," said Nabi.
Nabi added that he hoped a new coach Aftab Habib would continue to progress, to move the former coach, Rashid Latif. "We learned a lot, Latif Rashid, and now we have the former England player Habib as a coach, but we hope that carries forward the good work," said Nabi.
For Afghanistan for a second time at the World Twenty20 Sri Lanka next September, they will have to finish in the top two in the World Twenty20 Qualifiers provided for in the United Arab Emirates from March 13 to May 24, 2012.
