Wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim has been appointed captain of the Bangladesh series at home against the West Indies and Pakistan in October and December. Mahmudullah, all-rounder, has been appointed captain of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

"It's the ultimate honor for any cricketer. I thank the Council for entrusting me with this responsibility, "said Mushfiqur." I am fully aware of the expectations of the whole nation, and I will be totally committed to ensuring that the Bangladesh team strives to fulfill the dream of millions. "

Bangladesh were left without the captain and vice captain, after the government had dismissed Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, and the positions after the disappointing tour of Zimbabwe, where they lost a one-off test and ODI series. BCB said that Tamim and Shakib was abandoned because "management was not satisfactory," and there have been reports of indiscipline during the series, and Zimbabwe.

Mushfiqur was the favorite for the post of captain Chakib as it was one of the few Bangladesh players who commands a place in the XI in all formats of the game. He also directed the Bangladesh team in the Copa del BCB, while Bangladesh has been Mahmudullah side.
