Hafeez to undergo surgery on cyst

Mohammad Hafeez, Pakistan's opening batsman, is excluded from the national competition, T20, Faysal Bank, because the cysts on her chest, which requires surgery. Timing of surgery is decided with an eye on Pakistan's future international commitments.

"It 'a little surgery, nothing serious, but he [Hafeez] decided to bypass the Twenty20 league as a precautionary measure," said the spokesman of the PCB ESPNCricinfo. "He has a lot less time before the Sri Lanka series [the first test begins Oct. 18 in Abu Dhabi], followed by Bangladesh and England series. So it's the perfect time for him to have surgery.

"He has to go through a process of recovery after surgery and, as the national team commitments that obviously the priority, to ensure their availability for Pakistan."

Hafeez, 30, is a key member of the Faisalabad Wolves, who began his campaign Faysal Bank with a convincing 54 run win against Multan Tigers at Karachi. It was shaped during the recent visit of Pakistan Prime Zimbabwe, where he scored 467 points and 13 doors in all sizes, with four Man-of-the-Match Award and two centuries.
