Brendan Nash, the West Indies batsman, withdrew from the selection of Jamaica for the next month on 50 WICB competition, citing personal reasons. Courtnay Daley, Chairman of the Selection Committee of Jamaica, said Nash had informed the board of his decision in a letter.
"He [Nash] wrote to the Jamaica Cricket Association on Tuesday, asking to be excused for personal reasons," Daley told the Jamaica Gleaner. "He said he was going through a difficult period of his life, his mind was not where he wanted it to be. Given these realities, he does not believe that would be about the team and at this time.
"He is not retiring or anything like that. Just take some time off and visit his family in Australia."
Nash, 33, was named West Indies' vice-captain at the same time, Darren Sammy took over the captaincy in October 2010. But a bad run of form in which he made only 54 runs in six innings of test, resulted in his being abandoned halfway through the series in India in June
