Rahul Dravid made a comeback in the plans of India limited overs after two years off the page. The injured Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh are notable gaps in the team for the five matches ODI series and Twenty20 international against the only England.

Dravid, who has more than 10,000 works in an ODI, the Indian side on a regular basis most of the decade. He was dropped from the team after a poor home series against Australia in 2007, but was recalled to confirm an inexperienced line-up up to and culminating in the Champions Trophy in 2009. His second coming lasted only six games, and it was banned in India after early exit in this tournament in South Africa. He does not figure in India, a World Cup success, but had a good run as tests, including three centuries in five matches.

Yuvraj and Harbhajan picked up injuries after the crushing defeat of India in the second Test at Trent Bridge, the rule of action for three weeks and four respectively. Chief selector Kris Srikkanth Chief confirmed that the duo has been left out for reasons of fitness, compared to the speculation that Harbhajan may have been abandoned.

Harbhajan was charged by the poor form since the World Cup, both in the Caribbean and England, before assigning an abdominal strain at Trent Bridge. He managed just six wickets in four ODIs in the West Indies, and was overshadowed by Amit Mishra legspinner. Harbhajan form dipped again in the tests that came when he picked up five wickets in the first two tests, although there was an improvement in the third Test in Antigua, where he returned match figures of 6 to one hundred and first he struggled for influence in England, picking up a tight door in the first two tests.

Yuvraj has not played an ODI for India since he won the man of the Tournament award at the World Cup. He missed the West Indies tour with a lung infection, but scored a half century on his return to the national team at Trent Bridge before a broken finger on his left hand sustained in the second innings. Other fellow World Cup winners Yuvraj, Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag made his ODI return.

Sreesanth, who returned on the next test for England after missing the tour to the West Indies, was left again while R Vinay Kumar made his ODI place as back-up fashion. Zaheer Khan, as expected, returned to-day things after sitting in the Caribbean tour. Ashish Nehra, who picked up an injury that prevented him from the World Cup final, is still the key.

Parthiv Patel, who opened the club and in the absence of MS Dhoni kept walking in the Caribbean, also retained his place as the second best wicketkeeper off limited. But there was no room for allrounder Yusuf Pathan, who had a poor World Cup and in the Caribbean. Manoj Tiwary, Shikhar Dhawan, S Badrinath, who visited the Caribbean, in the absence of regular drummers, lost this time.
