Zaheer Khan, AB de Villiers, Hashim Amla, Shane Watson, Jonathan Trott and Graeme Swann have been designated in each of the three annual awards to the top of the ICC. The six players are on the long list of nominees for the cricketer of the year, test player of the year and ODI player of the year awards. In addition, there are 11 players who were named in two categories.
The long lists were created by a selection committee of five men, headed by former West Indies captain and current chairman of the ICC Cricket, Clive Lloyd. The other panelists were Mike Gatting, Danny Morrison, Paul Adams and Zaheer Abbas. Players were selected based on their performances between August 11, 2010 and August 2, 2011, a period that includes World Cup ICC.
The winners of the individual players will be picked up by "an academy of 25 cricket personalities" that includes a number of former players, representatives of the elite panel of referees, referees match of the ICC and the media .
This year's awards include 10 individual awards, including the price of people's choices, which will be decided by cricket fans online, and three team awards: the Test and ODI teams of the year and price for the side that has adhered most to the spirit of cricket. The award ceremony will take place in London on September 12
ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat said the prices are "a chance to revisit some of the farms cricket great witnesses of the past year, including our flagship event, the ICC Cricket World Cup."
