Plenty of gold coins awaits Sachin Tendulkar if he gets his 100th international century in the third Test against the West Indies in Mumbai.
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has decided to felicitate Tendulkar with 100 gold coins, should he reach the elusive mark at the Wankhede Stadium. For the currency-inclined, the net worth of 100 gold coins is estimated to be around Rs28 lakh.
“MCA President Vilasrao Deshmukh has decided that the assoiciation should give Tendulkar a 100 gold coins if he completed the 100th international century at his home ground,” Nitin Dalal, Joint Secretary of MCA, said on Saturday.
The idea may not be as original as it may seem. The Cricket Association of Bengal had a similar plan for the Kolkata Test, but the countdown stopped after Tendulkar dragged a pull to the hands of mid-wicket.
MCA’s working committee made this decision soon after the Kolkata Test. “Our president Vilasrao Deshmukh agreed to the idea instantly. We hope he (Deshmukh) will be there if Sachin gets to the landmark,” said Ravi Sawant, MCA treasurer.
