Shoaib Malik, Pakistan's former captain, he said, is the goal of returning from the cricket series against Sri Lanka in the UAE. Malik said after his unbeaten 88 off 49 balls gave the victory commander of Sialkot Lahore National Stadium in Karachi, and the final place for Faysal Bank Twenty20 Cup.
"I am objective test cricket. Once you click [form] in the format definitely [increase] their chances of success with other formats," Malik told reporters. "Test cricket is the real form of cricket and I'm more worried about this."
Malik, who played 32 tests, his best against Sri Lanka in the past. The average of 59.75 in nine tests, well above his career average of 33.45, and two centuries of his test came against him. It was recalled to the national team by the CCP during the recent tour of Zimbabwe after being approved by the Integrity Committee of the Board, more than a year after the controversy is filled with Pakistan, England.
"I do not know what the selectors have decided for me, but I'm optimistic," said Malik. "I was very rusty on the tour of Zimbabwe, but after playing the national Twenty20 feel I have found the key."
While concentrating on cementing the national side in place of any type of cricket, Malik said the new captain was not a priority. "I concentrated on my form, and the captain is secondary for me."
Malik is expecting a tough series against Sri Lanka, who are coming off a 0-1 loss in their three test series against Australia at home. "They are difficult to play and a half," said Malik. "We need to outline specific plans to take on Sri Lanka, and they need to perform accordingly. Otherwise, you can not expect positive results."
Pakistan selectors are currently in Karachi to choose a team in series Sri Lanka. Pakistan play three back-to-back test against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates from October 18, is scheduled for October 15.
