After 53 international innings across formats, most of them as an opener, Lendl Simmons hit his first century in the opening ODI against Bangladesh. Simmons was relieved to break his century jinx and termed the match-winning effort as "one of the most memorable moments" of his life.

"It was a special knock today," Simmons said. "I had got starts against Pakistan and India [in the recent home season], but I couldn't convert them into hundreds. I would like to dedicate today's effort to my mum and daughter".

Simmons' smooth 122 guided West Indies 298, the score that lights easily defended. He was happy with the circumstances he faced, while new in terms of a separate new balls at both ends to assist in his stroke play.

"The land was good, the ball came to bat," said Simmons. "I tried to get the rhythm of the window as soon as possible. They gave us the start we wanted in the first five overs, but at the end of the first Powerplay, we reached our destination. Then we went at the time."

Simmons started to backup the company of Adrian Barath, Trinidad & Tobago in their opening partners. Barath retired hurt after 15 overs, but Simmons and Marlon Samuels controlled load transfers Middle easily set the West Indies' for a big score.

"I am now going into being a leading player on the team," said Simmons. "Adrian Barath is a guy Junior T & T and we played lots of cricket and the house have a good understanding. I hope we can grow and a pair of opening.

"Marlon has some kind of good and demonstrated his skills as a good battery. Mastered the Twenty20 and showed his class today. He was an inspiration. All the kids see that it has the form. Our partnership has been good and we have a good score . "
