Administrator Cam Battersby dies at 76

Cam Battersby, former manager of the Australian team Queensland and President of cricket, died at the age of 76.

Battersby was team leader at the historic Australian tour of South Africa in 1994, the first time in nearly 30 years had an Australian team toured there. He also led tours to Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India and New Zealand.

Member of the Board, then the Australian Cricket Board, 1987-2002, Battersby was also president of the Queensland Cricket 1993-2000. L ', Battersby doctor in 2000 was awarded the Order of Australia Member (AM) for his services to medicine, particularly in education and research in a liver transplant, and his services to cricket administration.

"Cam was a maniac for detail, a composite character who thought deeply about issues and acted in the best interests of cricket during his long career," Queensland Cricket chairman Jim Holding said. "He had a weakness for gambling India and Sri Lanka, and maintained close ties with friends in both countries. "
