The fall after the disastrous season when Yorkshire were relegated to the second division for only the second time since the championship was split into two divisions 11 years ago, has begun. The club issued bowler Ben Sanderson and Lee Hodgson and versatile spinner David Wainwright has used the clause in his contract, which means it can ask to be released if he is not playing regular first team cricket.

Sanderson has struggled to make his way in the first XI because of his first class debut in 2008, and was not part of the Yorkshire team championship this summer. Hodgson is also languishing in the second XI, while Wainwright has had little chance of first-class cricket.

The reallocation also includes a large number of new contracts and extensions as the county is moving from a disastrous season and build for the future. The former England Under-19 Azeem Rafiq offspinner, 20, and Zimbabwe-born batsman Gary Ballance, 21, has committed his future to Yorkshire by signing two-year extensions of their contracts. Seamer Moin Ashraf, 19, and drummer Joe Racine, 20, offered similar agreements and hope that both will sign soon.

Ballance was one of the best players in Yorkshire during a summer that saw several shows that batting with 717 runs at 42.17 in the Championship and runs from 331 to 55.16 in the Clydesdale Bank 40. Racine has also had some success in the first class, with 937 works, including a hundred and fifty four.

Rafiq effort this year was mainly in Twenty20 cricket, where he took eight wickets at 7.32 the economy, while Ashraf is still groping in the first XI, but managed 10 wickets in six league games.

"We are pleased to offer a contract extension of these very talented young who showed such promise in an otherwise disappointing season," said director of cricket, Martyn Moxons. "As the nature of the game, we also took the very difficult decision to release three other professionals, and we wish Lee, Ben and David all the best for the future. "

Contracts pro junior was also awarded adolescents Alex Lee, a drummer left hand, and James Wainman, a left-arm seam, while the contracts were awarded in the summer Callum Geldart, Alex Lilley, and wicketkeeper / batsman Dan Hodgson.
