Sri Lanka vs Australia, 3rd Test, Colombo, on 1 day

Brydon Coverdale Report

Tea in Australia to 4154 (Marsh 68 *, Hussey 18 *) v Sri Lanka

Shaun Marsh justified in Australia has decided to keep it No. 3 with a bold half-century on the first day in Colombo, Sri Lanka, which was a little advantage 'of tea. Tillakaratne Dilshan have been sent from, Australia had reached 154 4-year hiatus, with Marsh and Michael Hussey 68, 18, and their partnership was a major break in Sri Lanka, only the out-of-form Brad Haddin and bowler hats to come.

There was, however, pass through the marshes and Hussey not prove an easy task, the two men showing the kind of concentration that has earned them hundreds of tests Pallekele. Marsh was particularly impressive in its socket, to defend the good balls, leaving them, he could, and to choose the law to set aside.

In the final over before tea, Marsh has pushed down the line from the ground Suranga Lakmal, which led him to 209 runs in his first two Test innings, the highest player in Australia, passing records Kepler Wessels' of 208 , brought his half century of its 125 delivery with a pulled four off Lakmal, and was typical of his innings: a ball bad, and the risk of stroke.

His teammates above may have learned something from his approach. Ricky Ponting, who fell to No. 4 to accommodate Marsh, played well for his 48 years, but seemed to lose concentration when there was a fullish of Lakmal Outswing edge and back, while poor Michael Clarke continuous operation, even No. 5.

Clarke shines in a final ball Shaminder ERANGE and was caught behind for six years and was an impressive bit of stick work due to the need for Australia to maximize the opportunity to bat first. It was a surprise that Dilshan sent to Australia, but believed in the area that provides a seam movement early because of rain in the run up to the game.

He was 12 when the captain had sent for the opposition to the SSC, but only two times that the decision led to victory both times against Bangladesh. The early signs were good in Sri Lanka, Lakmal removing Phillip Hughes, a duck second ball for more than a second. Lakmal left side of the ball and spread it over a fraction off the seam. The ball caught the inside edge of the bat as Hughes was floating aimlessly away from his body, and the strains were shaken.

Hughes was a disappointing effort, which is seen as a long-term options for opening partner Shane Watson, but did not reach the 51 of his last ten innings of the test. Shane Watson is also an atypical lean patch, 8 and that continued when he drove hard to the end, ERANGE wide delivery and was a general property of point back.

It was a joyful moment to ERANGE, who became the second Sri Lankan to take a wicket with his first ball in Test cricket after Chamila Gamage in 2002 and the second man to achieve the feat in this series after Australia's Nathan Lyons. The inclusion of Erang was one of the many changes in Sri Lanka line-up for this test.

Left arm spinner, Rangana Herath, was added after missing the Pallekele test due to an injury on his finger, and Sri Lanka went to sewing heavier attack by dropping a call, and Suraj Prasanna Randiv Seekkuge. They also stopped the veteran batsman Thilan Samaraweera Lahiru Thirimanne and carried, that pops up when Dilshan drops to No. 5.

But first they have to spend the rest of Australia's batting order. And against a form of swamps and Hussey, it may be easier said than done.
