Hamish Bennett, New Zealand's fastest player, will miss the tour of Zimbabwe next month because of back pain.

Low back pain has been Bennett's contention. "It seems the problem is muscular, tests show nothing. I have to stop bowling for a few weeks and become pain free, and then you can gradually go back again," Bennett was quoted in The Dominion Post. "It's really frustrating, of course, but could be much worse, I suppose. Things move very fast, I'm told."

"Unfortunately, injuries are just part and parcel of a fast bowler. I'm just a result of a best lap, and I hope that for the rest of the season."

Bennett, 24, was a series of incidents after his surprise elevation to the national team last year. He suffered a groin strain on the opening day of his debut Test in India was out of a series of rulings. Earlier this year, the ankle injury he was out of the second half of New Zealand to run in the World Cup semifinals.
