Over the centuries, Michael Carberry and Neil McKenzie is guaranteed to pull Hampshire Rose Bowl - and banned the first Warwickshire County Championship crown since 2004.

The hosts, resuming on 43-3, it was a good start with Carberry and McKenzie - which combines in a record partnership of 523 against Yorkshire last month - the Warwickshire bowlers frustrating.

In the first hour of play today, had the couple moved Hampshire last three numbers, with the former England man Carberry to find the limit with a special liquid. The couple took their partnership past 150 on the stroke of noon, and therefore, the Bears would beat title-hunting again if they hoped to ensure the County Championship title secured.

But all hope that the visitors were quick wickets after the time was quickly extinguished as the Carberry and McKenzie continued to frustrate some of the striking surface. Carberry went well-deserved century, during the afternoon session only 152 balls, before falling into a magnificent 111 final, when England was severely condemned LBW Paceman Chris Woakes.

It ended in a partnership between thin Carberry 182, and McKenzie, who has progressed serenely at the other end. New batsman James Vince (33) seemed confident in the crease, and McKenzie, Hampshire, took the example of the last 80 years, before David Metters had captured on the border with Boyd Rankin.

Sean Ervin was the next in Hampshire, and with McKenzie - who moved to his third championship hundred of the season, after tea from 211 balls - the pair Warwickshire ground below.

The new ball did not produce the success of Rankin and David Wright were at work to see a full strip. Metters briefly raised hopes young spinner to remove Ervine and Michael Bates - who has bagged a couple of games - in successive deliveries.

But it proved to be significant on the last day of work, when Warwickshire took just four three wickets needed for victory. Immediately at seventeen, the captains called the game drawing Hampshire 158 runs ahead, and McKenzie is an unbeatable 115

The purpose of drawing Warwickshire finished the second season, and perhaps rueing deduction previously accumulated eight points in the campaign.
