Tom Craddock took four wickets and Owais Shah and Jaik Mickleburgh weighed and a half centuries of Essex fought back in the second day of their championship match against the county of Glamorgan in Cardiff.


Glamorgan had resumed the second day with his eyes on a total of around 500, but were not included in a return to Essex with the ball. The home team were 313 for three and a seemingly comfortable position, but from 335 to 399 for three collapsed shortly after meals.

Batting seems to have no easy answer Essex. Opener Tom Westley went to an excellent caught and bowled effort from Graham Wagg, before Allenby Billy Godleman trapped LBW with 27 bones to become 49 for two. Allenby has recorded impressive numbers 8-5-7-1 in the afternoon.

Shah, who hit Robert Croft for a six in his first and most Mickleburgh guided Essex to 72 for 2 at tea. Shah survived a very confident caught behind appeal on 49 Owen, before bringing his fifty with the next delivery. Half-century has been marked to 111 balls with five fours and a six.

Mickleburgh has a life of 44 years when he was eliminated in deep midwicket of Wagg by Robert Croft. He went to his half century from 118 balls.
