captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Monday emphasized that though Australian team is going through a rebuilding phase but India will not make any mistake of underestimating Australia before embarking on the much-awaited tour Down Under.

“When we went into the series against West Indies without Harbhajan Singh, no one knew what R Ashwin was capable of in Test cricket. And see where he is now…How do you know that Australia don’t have similar talent in their line-up who is just waiting to explode?” Dhoni said, when asked whether this is the weakest Australian attack they have ever faced.

“Even when we were there last time, we had a very good chance and we performed well. So, it’s not about that if the opposition is not doing well, we have the best chance,” reiterated Dhoni.

“We have to play to the kind of talent that we have got, worry about things that we have to worry about and work on our strength as well as weaknesses,” he said.

While Australia slumped to their first home defeat to New Zealand in 23 years, Dhoni insists Team India have their fair share of concerns to worry about.

“We are more concerned about where we need to work on, we are not too worried about what kind of opposition we are playing,” he said.

With the first Test starting on December 26 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Dhoni believes the team has enough time prepare for the contest.

“Zaheer is back in the side and Umesh Yadav can bowl over 140. It’s also good to have Sehwag and Gautam (Gambhir) at the top of the order who understand each other well and bat in tandem,” said Dhoni.

“It’s looking good as of now and hopefully we won’t have too many injuries before the start of the Test series,” he added.

Fletcher, though, conceded that this Aussie team is not at their best. “It’s true that they are out of form and we’ll have to keep them out of form. But don’t count an Australian team out when it’s going through a rebuilding phase,” the Indian coach warned.

When asked, How is this side different from the one that lost to England, Fletcher said, “The biggest plus is that this team doesn’t have the injury worries and selecting the XI won’t be too difficult…Most of the guys have got the rest and are going to Australia fresh,”
