Sri Lanka Cricket's present interim committee, headed by Upali Dharmadasa, will be dissolved on November 14 before the elections, a Sports Ministry spokesman said.

"The minister (Mahindananada Aluthgamage) has decided to dissolve the present interim committee and call for nominations 30 days from that date with a view to holding elections for Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC)," said Sports Ministry media secretary Harsha Abeykoon. "The elections are due to be held in mid December."

The current interim committee was appointed by the minister on July 1 for a period of six months to tidy over the financial crisis that had arisen by SLC funding the building of three cricket stadiums to host the 2011 World Cup matches.

Dharmadasa replaced the interim committee which was headed by former Sri Lankan legspinner DS de Silva.

Despite Dharmadasa taking over, the board continued to suffer from financial trouble with the contracted players not receiving their salaries since the World Cup in April.

Sri Lanka Cricket has been administered by interim committees for the past seven years.
