The 2011 NKP Salve Challenger Trophy gets underway in Nagpur today where several national-team aspirants will rub shoulders with established India players in the 50-over format. The tournament will - as will the remainder of India's domestic season - incorporate the latest rule changes agreed on by the ICC and its member boards during the annual conference in Hong Kong in July. The changes came into effect on October 1, and were in force for the tour game between England XI and Hyderabad Cricket Academy XI last week. The rule changes include the abolition of the runners, the use of new balls at each end of one dayers and the benefits of batting and bowling digital to take only between 16 and 40 acquisitions. In addition, the batters can obstruction "field if you change your course during the race to avoid the possibility of running out, and the bowlers can not lose fight unfairly.

"There are many aspects of the legislation that will overcome this as the match progresses," S Badrinath captain India Blue, was quoted as saying in Hindi, in response to the new Powerplay rules.

"The rule changes will bring a feeling of Fairplay, help the bowler to play a more crucial role in ODIs," Shikhar Dhawan, a part of India Red, said. "With the power play is not in effect during the 41st, the bowlers do much more freely. Cricket is supposed to be responsible for the batsmen but bowlers will also have something to say now.

"The quality players that can move the ball work the ball to remain shiny," he said, the use of two new balls.

Not everyone felt the change would benefit the players, however. "It's like a game of 25 courses with the new ball," said Irfan Pathan, India will play in the Blue. "The art of reverse swing the old ball will fall. As a player, I would not say, but I hope the challenge.
