India to play two tour matches in Australia

India play two warm-up before the first Test of their tour to Australia later this year, Cricket Australia and the BCCI [CA] are reported. Both matches will be played in Canberra, will have tests on Boxing Day in Melbourne.

The first warm-up game will be a two-day meeting CA President XI at Manuka Oval from December 15, while the second is a three-day game since Dec. 19 in the same place, against the same opposition.

In August, the BCCI had asked CA for an extra warm-up games during the trip. Previously, India was scheduled to play a game tour of four days from December 18. The request was made in the wake of the disastrous tour of England - after India 0-4 lime was severe criticism directed against the Indian board about the preparation of the team.

India play four tests and two Twenty20 against Australia, followed by a Tri-series which also includes Sri Lanka. Visiting the two parties will be part of "Festival of Cricket" opening in Canberra, which runs from December 4-21. The festival also includes a Sheffield Shield game 6-9 in December and a Ryobi Cup match one day.
