Marlon Samuels, the West Indies batsman and part-time offspinner, has had his bowling action removed from the ICC after undergoing major repairs. An independent test found the activity is legal and the player has been cleared to continue the International Cricket Bowling.

"A full analysis has revealed that his average elbow extension is now comfortable 15-degree provided by applicable law," the ICC said in a statement. "In the original test, 11 February 2008, the mean elbow extension was calculated at over 15 degrees."

"It's great to know you can play again in international cricket. I waited for this moment for quite some time. I am primarily a drummer in the team but is good to know that I can again contribute to the team in another area," said Samuels. "I want to thank Jimmy Adams to work with me in the nets and help me through this process. After returning to the Caribbean setting Ottis Gibson continued the work of Jimmy, where he left off and helped me get the positive result I was looking for.

"I spent a lot of time doing a lot of bowling in the nets so that I could get my body used to working so that every time the captain called on me in one of three formats of play I'll be ready. "

Samuels reported for suspect action by the judges in the third test between South Africa and the West Indies in Durban in January 2008. Field judges Simon Taufel and Aleem Dar and third umpire Brian Jerling reported their doubts about his action, particularly with regard to his "fast" deliveries. Referee Roshan Mahanama match subsequently informed both the ICC and the West Indies team management report, according to ICC rules of the reporting process.

Analysis of Samuel's work was conducted by Professor Bruce Elliott, a member of the Panel of ICC human movement specialist and his team at the sports school, exercise and health at the University of Western Australia, September 14

Like all the bowlers that are tested, the activities Samuels will continue to examine the match officials, keep it legal. He has seven Test wickets an average of 127 and 57 ODI wickets 43.24
