The fast bowler reduced Surrey, Stuart Meaker, has been called into England one day squad for their trip to India next week after voters chose to rest their top paceman James Anderson for the series of five ODI matches. Kevin Pietersen, who was rested for the ODI series at home against India, and the two Twenty20 against West Indies at the Oval, has been revoked.

Meaker is another player to be born in South Africa, but as his fellow Surrey Seam, Jade Dernbach, he learned his cricket in England, in his case at Cranleigh School in Surrey. He spent the last two winters on the program of the ECB Fast Bowling and made his debut for the Lions of England A against Sri Lanka this summer.

Chris Woakes, Warwickshire versatile also has been on the team, with legspinner Durham, Scott Borthwick, who impressed with a spell of 1 to 15 in its four acquisitions against the West Indies on Sunday. Anderson, who had a heavy workload this summer, will be allowed a break from international cricket until the team travels to the UAE in January for test and ODI series against Pakistan, while Ben Durham Stokes has not been can be selected to undergo a rehabilitation program a finger injury.

Two other players, IF Buttler (Somerset) and Alex Hales (Nottinghamshire), associated with the team before the Twenty20 matches, 29 October, almost certainly replace the ODI captain, Alastair Cook, and the test and ODI No 3, Jonathan Trott. Assuming that you recover from a shoulder injury, Stuart Broad, Twenty20 captain, will join the squad Calcutta before one-off meeting on October 29. Otherwise, continue as captain Graeme Swann.

"This team is an exciting balance of experienced players to international cricket, as well as some very talented younger players who can play high-quality limited-over cricket in India needed a challenge," national selector Geoff Miller said. "The number of lesions and the decision to leave, James Anderson, in line with the policy of rational management of player workload, provide opportunities for other talented players to continue developing international cricketers.

"We had a victory in the series that promises to one day earlier this month in India and this team will be waiting for the challenge of continuing this success in the subcontinent for the next four weeks," said Miller. "The additions to the team for the Twenty20 match will strengthen the team and provide Jos Buttler and Alex Hales valuable experience of playing in the subcontinent.

"Stuart Broad is currently in a period of rehabilitation from a shoulder injury, but India will join the team when he completes his rehabilitation program in advance," said Miller. "Graeme Swann will be shown again next Twenty20, if Stuart is unable to catch up."

No matter how much importance was attached to the England 25-run defeat in the second of these T20 on Sunday, could not chase 114 on a swing bridge has served to underscore the challenge facing the team of the series to come. Batting against the bowling performance on dusty surfaces will be slow - if India is serious about requiring some measure of revenge for humiliating his recent tour - the usual formula in the five ODIs and Twenty20 match.

In this spirit, the recall of Pietersen considerable, especially in light of reports that he was ready to withdraw from the limited overs format. But a series against India at home is not the best place to experience complete, and with Eoin Morgan set aside until January to the middle of England needs a dose of experience.

Cook and Trott will naturally be included - and the debate over the first three will not be far behind - but Pietersen slots No. 4 to No. 6 would have been a little light on the proven ability, despite the recent performance of Ravi of Bopara and Jonny Bairstow is confident debut.

Pietersen, even if it is under serious pressure. His ODI average is 23.30 in the last two years and his last century came against India in Cuttack, shortly before losing his captain. Although his test and the Twenty20 format is recovered, that the alarm has not been transferred to the 50 overs. Maybe it's the lack of motivation in ODIs does not provide a fulsome Test cricket challenge or excitement instant 20 overs. This series could be his last chance to prove he is really hungry to play all three formats. 2008 Pietersen clearly enhances the development side, but Pietersen is a spare part from 2009 to 2011.

A number of young players who were selected against the West Indies will travel to India. Borthwick impressed against West Indies and pushed in front of Danny Briggs, left arm spinner Hampshire, who have no interest in these devices. It is also an important visit to Samit Patel, who must put on the uniform and total sample to prove his fitness level in test conditions.

The new pace attack will be without all or Anderson, which will give you another chance to improve Steven Finn after hitting 90 mph regularly towards the end of the season. Bowling in the subcontinent will be another step in its development, but will be able to tap the knowledge of his debut Test series against Bangladesh.

Alastair Cook ODI Team (CAPT), Jonathan Bairstow, Ian Bell, Ravi Bopara, Scott Borthwick, Tim Bresnan, Jade Dernbach, Steven Finn, Craig Kieswetter, Stuart Meaker, Samit Patel, Kevin Pietersen, Graeme Swann, Jonathan Trott, Chris Woakes

* Joseph Butler and Alex Hales will join the Twenty20 International
