N Srinivasan becomes BCCI president

N Srinivasan officially took over as BCCI president Shashank Manohar of the annual general meeting of the Board in Mumbai. Srinivasan was named president-elect at the meeting last year, and had served as honorary secretary for three years.

Srinivasan is joined by a new team of officers BCCI. Sanjay Jagdale, who was Joint Secretary in Manohar was elected secretary of the board, while Anurag Thakur, president of the Himachal Pradesh, will be the new co-secretary. Ajay Shirk, president of the Maharashtra Cricket Association, was elected treasurer. The three candidates were unanimously.

Three of the five vice-presidents were re-zone. Arun Jaitley has remained representative of the north, while Niranjan Shah Shivlal Yadav and continued to represent the south and west, respectively. Chitrak Mitra, an official of the Cricket Association of Bengal, Arindam Ganguly replaced while Sudhir Dahir, former president of the Vidharba Cricket, succeeded Rajiv Shukla as the vice president of the central region.

There was a change in the selection committee for the national men's team. Mohinder Amarnath, the versatile ancient India, India has replaced the former drummer of Yashpal Sharma as the representative of the Northern Zone. Sharma had fulfilled its mandate of four years and was renewed. Kris Srikkanth, the current head of selectors, had its mandate extended for one year. The rest of the panel include Narendra Hirwani (central area), Raja Venkat (East Zone), Surendra Bhave and (West Zone), was selected.

As widely expected Rajiv Shukla has been appointed as the new President of the IPL Governing Council pay Chirayu Amin. Amarnath appointment meant that he could no longer serve the IPL Governing Council, and MP Pandove, former secretary of the board, was appointed in his place.

The Board has also created a new committee to oversee and coordinate its various schools, the most prominent of which is the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore. The committee will be headed by Pandove, who received special permission to attend all meetings of the NCA. Anil Kumble has been retained as president of the ANC, while Ranjib Biswal became the new vice president.

Sunil Gavaskar resigned his position within the technical committee of the BCCI. "Mr Gavaskar, has written that he was on the technical committee for seven years and it is time that we are looking for a new face," said Srinivasan. "It is our intention to appoint Sourav Ganguly as chairman of the technical committees. We have not been able to contact him but I hope it will give consent. "
