India's top court rejects Modi's plea on inquiry

India's Supreme Court denied former President of IPL Lalit Modi movement seeking an independent investigation, rather than the current by a committee of the BCCI, the accusations of financial irregularities against him. The petition was heard by Justice JM Panchal and Justice HL Gokhale, who held that the mere apprehension of bias by the commission could not be a reason for seeking a probe by an independent tribunal.

Modi had filed the petition in September 2010, seeking removal of his successor Chirayu Amin - who has since been replaced by Rajiv Shukla - area north and BCCI vice-president Arun Jaitley of the Discipline Committee is studying the charges against him. Modi has repeatedly challenged the composition of the committee, but his plea for the disqualification of two members because of prejudice against him had been previously rejected by the Court of Bombay.

Modi BCCI had suspended shortly after the conclusion of the IPL, 2010, and charged with financial irregularities related to the bidding process for IPL franchises, sales and more than half ad sales rights drama.
