Marcus Trescothick has admitted he is lost for answers when it comes to save Somerset from falling into the last hurdle, after it fell short of Surrey Lord Clydesdale Bank in the past 40 years. This meant the runner's fifth in two seasons for a county that is gaining a reputation for not being able to go a step further.
Somerset collapsed in the final 79 5 - Trescothick with the first man dismissed - and even if 86 of them bore 214 Buttler, has not shown enough to seriously challenge the Duckworth-Lewis in Surrey run chase. Fielding questions Trescothick has left the family, which has fielded honestly, when he said the team had tried to win the final "Jinx, had failed.
"What we can say to justify it or tell you what is wrong? Do not know if I'm honest," he said. "We looked at different things, but does not work when you get to this point. It is another blow to the teeth
"I'm out of ideas to try to improve. I'm out of answers. Not bat as well as I could, if the nerves do not know. This is one thing that needs attention and needs some honest answers."
He also acknowledged the difficulty is the result for the fans of Somerset. "I'm sorry to put everyone through this," he said.. "We played fantastic cricket for 99% of the season and we all love to get to the finals, we must give the best we can - and will - continue to fight for the right result. "
But despite recent setbacks, he still sees a bright future for Somerset, and believes that the team always close to the plate to show how law is made.
"I take great comfort from it," he said. "Many teams would swap. We are in the top five teams in the country and put themselves in position to win things. It takes the edge off by not winning, but we do hell of a lot right. We could be a task, we are now simply not good enough. "
For the counterpart Trescothick, Rory Hamilton-Brown was a very different emotional states in the Surrey Championship followed by the promotion of a trophy. Hamilton-Brown was also the key for the bat as he did 78 out of 62 balls, although he lost the match award for Jade Dernbach took that April 30 was excited about the prospects for the team
"I see a lot of changes have been made in the last three years, the club," he said. These changes, which should have been done, and this is just the beginning of what I think we can achieve. Allows children to know that what we are doing is right and if we are creating the hard work that we have a very successful future ahead of us. We worked really hard. We had a great final season. "
