Chris Gayle can play in Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2011 Champions League Twenty20, but he believes that the West Indies Twenty20 champions Trinidad and Tobago (T & T) have the potential to win the tournament if they get through the phase rating. T & T to take on Sri Lanka Ruhuna champions on Monday, with three of the six qualifying teams to go through the main draw.

"They were playing T20 cricket valid for two years and can win if they qualify for the main draw," said Gayle Trinidad & Tobago Newsday. "It's a shame they have to play in qualifying. They were dominant in the Caribbean.

"The team has experience [playing in the Champions League] and know what it means. While I'm sure they will do well and qualify. "

T & T will be without two of their biggest stars - ALLROUNDER Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard - who was not involved in the tournament Antilles interior, has chosen to play for Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, respectively Champions League. But Gayle believes that there is enough talent in the T & T squad, and the couple will not be missed.

"Yes, they certainly can [compete]. I think you could see in the Regional Tournament. Bravo and Pollard did not participate, and they actually won it without the two big names. "

T & T was the first surprise of the Champions League, reaching the final before losing to New South Wales, and Gayle said the team would benefit from this experience. "Most of you have been there in India and what is good for the team. There is no reason why they can not do well and win."

Gayle, who makes his debut in the Champions Leag, said he expected the tournament and hope that he could have an impact similar to what he has done an IPL 2011, where he finished top scorer and 608 runs and an average of 67.55 183.13 and strike-represented.

"It was a massive IPL," said Gayle. "I took a lot of positive things [it], but the Champions League is a different scenario. There will be teams that play against and different situations. It will be a competition between the best players from different teams. I am pleased to be part of it. I want to do well, like any other player, and I can not wait, fingers crossed, hopefully. "
