After the demoralizing defeat of India in the first two Tests of the British series, Paddy Upton, former coach of their mental conditioning, suggested that schedules more and more ruthless could attract players, leaving them with little energy mental. Upton believes that there is very little understanding of "mental fatigue" a player goes through, if it is on the treadmill all the time and that it not only ends up compromising the quality of cricket, but also results in situations they experienced by players from India during the World Cup, Yuvraj Singh, as they struggled to keep their food down and becomes physically ill from anxiety.

"The current timetables require players to be machines," says Upton ESPNcricinfo of South Africa. "We can guess the physical impact on players, but that is little understood is the feeling of mental fatigue players when crossing the line in every game where there is so much pressure."

By the end of the series in England, India would have been a period of seven races in nine weeks. This should be behind the World Cup long and high pressure after only six days later, the IPL that it took another seven weeks. Upton seems to preparing for the World Cup and then through the action plans had diligently taken a big toll on the Indian players and seamless fit, many players would remain vulnerable to injury or decreased performance.

"This World Cup was a monumental process, in preparation for the tournament and run for seven weeks. It was a tournament long, long time. The physical drain of players, I do not think even the players realize how far were fully booked . I spoke to Yuvraj Singh, who said he was sick for almost two weeks after the World Cup and I know there were many players who were mentally down after the World Cup. "

India problems started long before the tour of England. Virender Sehwag opted for shoulder surgery until his IPL team, Delhi Daredevils, removed from the discussion playoffs. Gautam Gambhir picked up injuries in the World Cup finals, but was only revealed during the knockout phase of IPL. Sehwag has been ruled out until at least the third test series in England, and while Gambhir missed the Caribbean tour.

The problems do not end there either. Less than a month in England, India, have fallen into the cold mixture of general loss of form and injuries to key players. Zaheer Khan to leave the airport, the first day of the series Lord and Gambhir was injured when Fielding left elbow and was declared the second test. Then Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh picked up injuries in the second test, which is to close two of the other series.

If it was not enough, there is the question of form, especially in MS Dhoni case. The captain of India came out to the Lord and BAT Trent Bridge to return to the locker room a few minutes each time. Adding to his misery is his work glove convince behind the stumps.

Dhoni said his batsmen's inability to stay in power has aggravated the workload in the fast bowling trio Ishanti Sharma, Praveen Kumar and Sreesanth. While Zaheer Khan is expected to return to the third test at Edgbaston, 10 August, remains to be seen whether it can or will go full throttle in a container by itself.

According to Upton, the need for the time to understand exactly why India has suddenly found the ship registration in the open seas. "The team knows what to do and how to win, and are good enough to bounce back. By giving players so much cricket, there is potential to dilute the quality of the product. We can see signs of it now. "

Upton said the Indian board was receptive to many of the suggestions made by him and Gary Kirsten, who was head coach at the 2008 World Cup. Most of these applications had to be done to keep players in top form. "The Indian board has accepted a proposal that allows players to go home between the Test matches while in India, allowing players to miss games during the ODI series, so players strategically resting times" said Upton. "He went some way to alleviate the mental and physical fatigue of the players."

However, a player like Dhoni has hardly had a break in recent years, mainly because the captain and a country like the celebrities of the application, developers would like out of alignment equipment, no matter how one series can be. "It's an ideal situation for sponsors and sources of income for the cricket as much but is not ideal for product quality," said Upton. "It seems that there are other things that determine the schedule."
