Malinga, Tharanga Included In ODI Squad

The fast bowler Lasith Malinga and Upul Tharanga opens included in the squad of 16 men in Sri Lanka during the first three ODIs against Australia. Malinga is back after illness prevented him from returning to the series as Sri Lanka Twenty20, swept, 2-0, while Tharanga returns after a three-month suspension after testing positive for banned substances. Dhammika Prasad and Dilruwan Perera, part of the Twenty20 team, was lost. Thilina Kandamby, who missed the Twenty20 against Australia after being named vice-captain one dayers in England, was also left out.

Tharanga ban ends today, making him the first game of the series, and is likely Tillakaratne Dilshan linking captain at the top of the order, Mahela Jayawardene to slot back in the order of the medium with Kumar Sangakkara, Chamara Silva and Dinesh Chandimal. The five-match ODI series begins in Pallekele on August 10 and the selectors will pick the squad for the last two ODIs after the conclusion of the third game.
