England v India, 3rd npower Test, Edgbaston, 1 day

England 84-0 (Strauss 52 *, 27 * Cook) trail India 224 (Dhoni 77, Broad 4-53, Bresnan 4-62) by 140 runs

It is a sign of the high level that England now define the total potential of India in 224 felt a little too much for the attack had the pace of work short of the first order, but the openers reached 84 without loss to ensure that England remained fixed in control at Edgbaston. The visitors fell to 111 for seven before MS Dhoni rediscovered his form with 77 against attack as Stuart Broad and Tim Bresnan shared eight wickets to get the most damage.

Andrew Strauss won his first start of the series and was happy to deploy - as his counterpart had done twice in the series - but even if the conditions were not useful was slow and the batsmen helped India especially in their own death. The only real exception is Rahul Dravid, who was kidnapped by a wonderful ball from Bresnan moments before lunch, while returning Virender Sehwag took a ball, and Sachin Tendulkar fell for one as England grew on both sides of range.

If it were not for this match Dhoni may have been more like a competition before, but India still has a huge task to keep the series alive after Strauss and Alastair Cook made a significant reduction in total over the last 23 acquisitions. Strauss reached his fifty first international of the season, when the pace bowlers struggled to make an impression and Amit Mishra has not caused many problems.

The QuickSet England, on the other hand, there are a handful in more circumstances, as good a field of grass and a cloudy sky was just added to the threat. James Anderson was not at his best, but Bresnan continued to show his development of the Test cricketer - and it is well to remember his place was confirmed only when Chris Tremlett was dismissed on Tuesday - even if it is the rebirth of Broad no indication of slowing down.

But it was not ideal for the home page. While Dhoni and Praveen Kumar were adding 84 in 14 overs there was a strange sense of loss in this area. Strauss was very quick to go on the defensive for Dhoni at a time with eight outfield players at the border, and the bowlers diverted from their successful strategy. As with the stand off Swann at Trent Bridge showed the effect of a positive approach and India have been well served by the captain, coming out of his shell. Dhoni took 16 balls to start the brand and India going anywhere as the main drummer had left in haste, but burst into life with a series of limits and strut so often associated with his staff suggested that return. His fifty from 62 balls and included six powerful three different corners of the imposing land redeveloped.

Still, Dhoni innings just to hide the cracks widening in India to observe. It seemed inconceivable at the beginning of the series that a strong line-up (even taking into account the missing Sehwag and other injuries) would not have exceeded 300 in five innings. Sehwag return could not be shorter than when it failed to lower the hands and the first delivery wicketkeeper gloves width. Judge, Steve Davis, said that initially off, and Strauss was quick to ask for the DRS, which has shown a clear sign of a hotspot. Sehwag was apparently hopes to bring the nation back on the dubious, but the odds were always stacked against him, which have an impact, even though he is a player who often goes against the agreement.

Since the shape of the attack step in English, and the grass pitch and overcast conditions, there still seemed to take wickets, but India responded firmly. Gautam Gambhir, also returning after a blow on the elbow injury, the Lord, had already collected two limits of Anderson's first over, and walked to the rhythm Sehwag century. Dravid, who is not much of a break, despite the return to No. 3, paragraphs, and showed an ability that has made India stand-out batsman in the series.

But when India was the detection of stability in England passed the Bresnan, who had thrown with precision shooting and immediately placed the right length, of course, was rewarded when Gambhir inside edges of a reader trunk leg. Tendulkar was greeted with jubilation that followed the whole series and Anderson were called immediately to target a person, he withdrew seven times.

This time, however, Anderson had to settle for a hand to the gate when the Broad found the outside edge, and insisted on a third package. It was the third time in the series that Broad had been removed Tendulkar, with 100 100 has proved difficult, and in India, the problems did not stop as Dravid got an unplayable leg cutters that went over the stump in the final session. England have had to work hard to remove Dravid in this series, and Bresnan are not many deliveries bowled better in his career.

Suresh Raina was again unconvincing as the quicks played with him before he hit a loose delivery of the round window and Laxman joined the list of poor shots, when deflected a direct pull to long legs as much as for Lord. Mishra, who replaced the injured Harbhajan Singh was batting was 8 and soon overcame a campaign to give your large room.

Innings was at its nadir, and England could expect to be batting by tea, but India has responded with some enthusiasm. Praveen most played his role with an innings that included idiosyncratic crisp and readers of Defence random. The partnership ended when top-edged a pull off Praveen Bresnan, but again need to confirm DRS board after Davis did not say the second time.

Given the ultra-defensive fields set by Strauss, it is ironic that the resistance Dhoni ended when an edge flew close to a man - Strauss, although at first slip. Innings ended when Cook stupid to the point, managed to hold on to a good time stamp that was placed in his elbow. When a team is convinced that cricket is the kind of things that go their way. Another good day series and can seal up No. 1.
